From the Red Carpet to Your Closet!
FROM THE RED CARPET
TO YOUR CLOSET
Look #1: Julie Bowen
She was a showstopper in her citrine Monique Lhuillier gown. She glowed from head to toe as she was bronzed, had loose beachy hair and dark eyes with a light lip, which created an effortless California glam look. By making her one main accessory statement drop earrings that complemented her gown, she created a buzz the second she hit the red carpet.
Take the trend home: If you’re going to an event, whether it’s a baby shower or a high school reunion and you want heads to turn when you walk into the room, wear yellow. Many people shy away from wearing yellow because they don’t think it looks good on them. I have news for you: There is a shade of yellow that looks good on every single person.
Look #2: Julia Louis-Dreyfus
She not only took home a trophy, but she also hit it out of the park with her Emmy look. Vera Wang custom made her gown in fall’s hottest color: a coppery, deep burgundy. By accenting this deep color with turquoise jewelry, she made her look more fun and let us know she doesn’t take herself or her fashion too seriously. By wearing her hair up and off her face, she showcased her jewelry and the design detail of the top of her gown.
Take the trend home: You can add a pop of color to any outfit through your accessories. Whether it’s a cocktail ring, a belt, earrings or a clutch, try pairing a bright-colored accent with a dark neutral outfit for a styled look.
A GUIDE TO YELLOW
- If you’re a red head or have red tones, try a deep, mustard yellow with a little bit of green in it.
- If you are a blonde, try a bright and lemony yellow.
- If you have dark hair, go for a more canary, darker yellow.
Look #3: Lucy Liu
She sparkled in her metallic Versace gown and got it right with her minimal jewelry and hair pulled to the side. This metal grommet gown was such a statement on its own that she didn’t need any extra accessories taking away from her gown. Her dress had so much going on, all it needed was a big stud earring. By wearing her hair loose and swept to the side, she gave this look a fresh, modern twist. If she had worn her hair in an updo or tightly pulled back, it would have made this look too severe.
Take the trend home: When you wear metallics, keep your accessories minimal. Remember that embellishments on your outfit, like sequins and grommets, count as an accessory.
Look #4: Hayden Panettiere
She stunned viewers in an aqua and gold Marchesa gown. With her hair pulled up in a bun, she showcased the best makeup of the night, keeping it fresh, glowing and red carpet chic. She matched her gold clutch to the gold underlay of her dress and kept her accessories to a minimum, letting the gown be the focal point of the outfit. This dress was fashion forward and a little bit of a risk, but it paid off as she got people talking.
Take the trend home: When wearing an intricate dress, keep your makeup fresh and natural. Opt for a dewy bronzed face with a peachy blush, light lip and golden eye. This keeps the focus on your outfit and your face and not your bright lipstick or distracting eyeshadow.
This year’s Emmy looks were so impressive that I can’t wait to see what everyone wears at the next award show. In the meantime, practice these tips at home and you’ll look like your own red carpet starlet.

What to Wear this Autumn
Fall means cool weather is around the corner. Leaves are changing color and fantastic fashions are here. After the light summer styles and before the heavier winter sweaters, you have the lovely layered look of fall. Let your clothing really reflect your favorite looks. I’m in love with this year’s fall fashions, and I think you will be too. While the runway models are showing off looks that only good on other runway models, I’ve found that there are some emerging trends and pieces that are going to be going on my permanent favorites list.
In the first place, let’s look at jewelry. Big has been in for a while, whether you love the look of chunky bracelets or single heavy pendants, but take a look at the textures. For example, are you someone who loves sleek textures? If so, you are going to adore the prevalence of glass pendants and glass earrings. On the other hand, do you prefer a slightly warmer and cozier look? If that is the case, look around for wooden beads and beads made of soft wool felt.
Personally, I cannot get enough of the bohemian look this fall. Consider looking for a wrap skirt that will cling in a lovely way to your hips, and pair it with your favorite camisole and thin sweater. This simple but lovely look is a great choice when you are after a casual day on the town or when you are visiting friends and family.
Give yourself a little boost when you walk by choosing a fantastic pair of boots that will take you anywhere. The harsh lines of the military style are always coming in and out, but one place that they never go out of style is in the boots. You simply cannot go wrong by picking a pair tall black boots, ideally ones that are super sleek and shiny. You can pair them with long skirts or tuck your pants in them for a very severe but highly enchanting look.
Fall is also a time to play with accessories and find the perfect pair of women’s shoes! For example, hats are in, whether you are into fedoras, top hats or cloches, as are scarves. Scarves are some of my favorite fashion accessories because they are simply so versatile. Wrap a single length of scarf around your head to keep your hair back or wear a longer scarf as a belt. If you are interested in something a little retro, find a very small scarf and tie it around your wrist.
When you are invested in a brand new look when the weather cools down, make sure that you are able to see what accessories and what fall styles are going to work for you!

Hello my Lovelies…. So this is my first “Guest post” on my blog (yay) I have had a few people offer but i am so picky and its easier if they are either a mother themselves or have an understanding of a mothers busy lifestyle. It makes sense seeing as i am a busy mom. Whether it be make up & techniques that are affordable and easy to use with minimal time, clothes that flatter (you know that mommy tummy we are still trying to shed) or shoes that are glamorous yet comfortable for moms to wear, without looking like we are “trying too hard” at the school gate. Anya Sarre of ShoeDazzle.com is a new mother to beautiful baby boy who oozes passion and style (like myself, only way better of course lol), so i was more than happy to have her with her expertise to guest post on my little corner of the internet. I hope you enjoy..
